Why Climb Kilimanjaro Early?

Morning Hours on MT. Kilimanjaro

WHY DO MOST CLIMBERS REACH MOUNT KILIMANJARO SUMMIT DURING MORNING HOURS?

You might say that it is the order of the day for tourists who come to climbing to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro early in the morning, this is not true and any tourists can reach the summit during any time of the day however it is recommended that reaching the summit during morning hours is more advantageous than any time of the day because of the following considerations:

NIGHT CONDITIONS ARE SOMETIMES GOOD FOR CLIMBING

During the day, it is always hot with high temperatures and this is not favorable for most travelers. Some abandon their climbing because of the temperatures. However during the night, the temperatures are always cool and this is good for climbing.  When you work during cool temperatures, you normally tend to work harder and a lot faster than when the temperatures are high. Since  reaching the summit is the ultimate goal of any climbers, it is always preferred to travel during the night the day before reaching the summit such that you are energized to fulfill you travel ambitions.  In the night, the ground is also cool enough to support your continuous movements to the summit. You won’t feel the burden of high temperatures as regards to the hiking shoes; you shall actually feel more comfortable than during day.

TO SEE THE SUMMIT EARLY IN THE MORNING

The only way to see the summit early in the morning is to climb Mount Kilimanjaro from your stopover point to the summit. Sometimes, it is not a long distance to walk however it makes perfect sense to travel during the night so as to arrive early in the morning. When you reach early in morning, I can guarantee that the conditions are always a bit different than when you reach in the afternoon or any other time of the day. One of the reasons why climbers want to reach early in the morning is to be able to observe the sunrise. Remember that summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is considered as the roof of Africa; when you are at the summit, you shall be able to have a feeling of being very near the sun-you shall feel as if the sun is not very far from you and the sunrise experience is worthy trying out. This is only possible if you travel in the night from last stopover to the summit.

IT IS LESS COLD AROUND THE MORNING HOURS BECAUSE OF THE SUNLIGHT

It should be noted that the higher you go, the cooler it becomes. It is so much cold at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and there is no one who can easily reach the summit unless they are covered with heavy jackets. There is constant snow at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. And because of the coldness, it is always preferred to reach at the summit in the morning when the sun has risen. During that time, the effect of coldness is reduced. You cannot experience the same if you decide to reach in the night or during evening hours when the temperatures have cooled down.
