Departure from Arusha/Moshi

Your professional guide will pick you up in a private 4×4 safari vehicle. We enjoy a scenic drive through coffee plantations before arriving at the Ngongongare Gate.

Guided Walking Safari

Switch the vehicle for your hiking boots. Accompanied by an armed park ranger, you’ll walk through the shadows of Mount Meru. This 2-hour trek brings you face-to-face with the park’s flora and fauna, often passing through the Tululusia Waterfall trail.

Picnic Lunch at Momella Lakes

Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the alkaline Momella Lakes. Watch hippos and flamingos as you refuel for the afternoon.

Game Drive & Optional Canoeing

Continue with a game drive through the woodland and savannah. We visit the Ngurdoto Crater rim, a “natural zoo” where you can spot elephants and buffaloes on the crater floor. Optional: Opt for a 1.5-hour canoe safari to see water-bound wildlife from a unique perspective.

How far is the park from Arusha or Moshi?

​From Arusha: It is about a 45-minute to 1-hour drive (approx. 35 km).

​From Moshi: It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours (approx. 80 km).

​From Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA): About 40 minutes.

While leopards and spotted hyenas are present, they are very elusive. You will not find lions or cheetahs here. The park is famous for its large populations of giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and the rare black-and-white colobus monkeys.

Not quite. While you will see massive herds of buffalo, there are no lions or rhinos in this park. However, it is the best place in Tanzania to see the Black-and-white Colobus monkey and thousands of flamingos.

This is one of the few parks where you can explore on foot. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you’ll walk through the plains and forest. It’s a surreal way to see giraffes and buffalo without the barrier of a vehicle.
