Kikelewa Camp

Kikelewa Camp is a mountain campsite located on the Rongai Route of Mount Kilimanjaro at approximately 3,630 meters (11,910 feet) above sea level. The camp is positioned on the eastern side of the mountain and serves as an important overnight stop for climbers ascending toward Mawenzi Tarn Camp.

The surrounding landscape features open moorland terrain, giant groundsels, and rocky mountain scenery. As trekkers gain elevation, the vegetation becomes more sparse and the views become increasingly dramatic. The camp provides excellent views of both Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding eastern slopes of Kilimanjaro.

Kikelewa Camp is known for its peaceful atmosphere and relatively quieter trekking experience compared to the busier southern routes. The gradual ascent along the Rongai Route also supports effective acclimatization for climbers.
