At the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro outside Kilimanjaro National Park lies the beautiful towns of Marangu. Kilimanjaro Bound will take you on a wonderful Marangu Village Tour 1 or 2 Days experience of Africa.

In Marangu Village the local people have planned walking tours through their valleys and waterfalls depicting typical Tanzanian mountain village life.
You will see magnificent views of valleys and waterfalls and find great entertainment for nature lovers and bird watchers.

With more than seven waterfalls in the vicinity you can spend a whole day enjoying the area and its wonderful views and peaceful atmosphere.

Marangu Village Tour 1 or 2 Days on the slopes of Kilimanjaro includes
guided tours leading to panoramic viewpoints ideal for photographing the waterfalls, valleys and wonderful scenery and wildlife. 

You can visit Kinukamori or Ndoro Waterfalls depending on your physical condition and have a chance to pass through historical sites of clan wars and listen tot the ancient legends of the area including large caves used for hiding during the Chagga and Maasai wars.

Visit the local blacksmith and witness them as they continue using the methods of their ancesters to prepare Maasai spears and tools.

You can enter the Laka holes, large hiding caves which were used to protect women and children during the Maasai and Chagga wars.

You will have the opportunity to experience real Chagga culture and visit a traditional Chagga house where you can learn more about the Chagga culture and way of life. 

No visit to Marangu Village is complete without a visit to the Coffee Plantation where you will see demonstrations of real coffee being made. The walking tours through the well maintained coffee and banana fields are fantastic and you will learn how real coffee
is made.

You will also have the chance to visit to local Chagga bars and learn how they made their local brew called Mbege, made up from ripe bananas.

A visit to tree, flower and fruit nurseries help to portray mountain life and give guests the chance to see a wide range of unique flora and fauna.

Mountain climbing enthusiasts will be delighted to visit the home and memorial of the late Yohani Lauwo, a Marangu native who accompanied Dr.Hans Meyer on the first recorded climb in 1889, he lived to lived for an astonishing 124 years and guided treks up the mountain at the age of 70 years!

You will be able to visit Marangu Gate, one of the Kilimanjaro climbing routes and the starting point and head office for Mount Kilimanjaro National Park

A visit to local open Markets where villagers get their basic needs, an open place where they gather and trade.

All the sites can be visited on foot in one full day tour or can be spread more comfortably over two days depending on the visitor’s condition.
