“Had a great hike on Kilimanjaro with Aggrey and Antonos as our guides. We did the Lemosho route in 7 days and we’re really happy with our choice. We were able to rent all the needed gear from the company, so we didn’t have to buy / bring everything just for this trek. The crew was amazing, we always had plenty of food and hot drinks, they treated water for us and the porters carried everything we wouldn’t need on the hike and pitch up our tents before we reached the camps. On summit day, our guides ended up carrying our day bags and motivated us, to make sure we would make it. Can only recommend these guys!”

“In February I did (30 years) a trekking with my father (67 years) to the Kilimanjaro. We choose to do the Machame route for 7 days, so we would have enough time to acclimatise on the mountain. Our guides were Aggry and Leonard. Both spoke English well and were nice and energetic when climbing Kilimanjaro. It was not an easy draw but with the right attitude and the right attitude – you can get very far. Every evening the boys did a health check and we had a briefing on what we can expect the next day. They always made sure that we understood what was important, but also to have fun. The rest of the team consisted of porters and a chef. The chef cooked a good meal every night! We always had soup (really good soup!) And then we got rice, potatoes or meat. Because I followed a gluten-free diet, the chef adapted the ingredients for me, so there was no problem.”

Attention was paid to nutrition and well-being. The food (3-course menu) was provided 3 times a day by a super cook. A cheerful singing assistant set the table and served the delicious meals. In addition, he brought a bowl of hot water 3x a day to freshen us up and the hot tea to warm up nicely. The tent was also kept tidy by the help. The team also consisted of 6 Porters (3x for each). We were just the two of us. (My niece: 22yrs and I: 47yrs – diabetic, sleep apnea). I had no idea if I would make it or not. Thanks to this team, their and our efforts, my niece has achieved the Uhuru peak and I, the Stella point. The road there didn’t go without a struggle. It is a fight (blood, sweat and tears). 7 day trek Rogai route mid-May “Joined the 7 day Rongai route trek already mentioned by Jess A. Going in mid-May was advised by Absolute Africa to use that route & length of time, & it worked out well -avoided the heavy rain elsewhere, dry all the way up, temperatures pleasantly warm, only seriously cold during the night of assaulting the summit, & got nicely acclimatized in the ascent. Thanks to guides Aggrey & Leonard & to our amazing all-singing, all-carrying porters. Respect!”

“AMAZING” “Took the 7 day Rongai Route with Leonard and Aggrey to the summit of Kilimanjaro. All I can do is recommend absolute Africa, and in particular these two guides. I was apprehensive before hand, but straight away Leonard and Aggrey and the rest of the team made me feel relaxed, and like I could do it. Special mention to Eli (waiter) and Edwardo (chef) as well for the excellent service and food for the entire trip, I’m sure that must be really difficult! The whole week was filled with smiles, singing and of course walking!! Leonard and Aggrey were so knowledgable about everything, that they even made the walking feel easy!! It’s definitely safe to say I would have never reached the summit without the help of my team, I would recommend these guys to anyone, every day of the week.”

“Wow, what an experience” “In February I (age 30) did a trekking with my father (age 67) year to the Kilimanjaro. Lemosho 7-day trekking “I had a really good time. My guide, Willian, and staff (six people in total) made everything so I could reach my goal: Kilimanjaro summit. I recommend Africa Absolute: good food, great staff, amazing time. Ah, I strongly recommend together with Kilimanjaro trekking, Serengetti Park and Ngorongoro Crater. It is one the most beautiful place I have been.”

“Amazing experience” “My partner and I did the 6 day Rongai route, lead by Aggrey and Remi. The team of 10 worked extremely hard to make us feel very well looked after. Edward, the cook was incredible, the food was delicious and so plentiful. We wouldn’t have made it to the top without the help and encouragement from the team. 7 day Lemosho Route “My girlfriend and I did the 7 day Lemosho Route and were led by Aggrey and Antanos. We had a team of 10 people just for the two of us and everyone worked hard to make it a great experience for us! We had a lot of rain but we wouldn’t have made it without the help of everyone. I’d definitely recommend them for your Kili trip!”

Rongi Route 7 Day Trek “As I am heading on a grand African adventure climbing mount Kilimanjaro just seemed natural. The planning and booking process was very easy since it was an add on to the tour. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport a taxi was pre-booked to bring me to Bristol cottages. The accommodation prior to the trek are in an adorable little section of Moshi. The continental breakfast is delicious and served in a cozy patio. Here I met Samson who gave me a briefing about everything that will be expected along the way. He also assured I had the proper equipment to arrive safely to the top of the mountain. The car arrived for transport to the start of the route. It picked up the crew of 7 guys, (Lenard. Aggrey, Edward, Eliona, Nelson, and Sadik) all very friendly and welcoming. You need these guys they are wonderful. Just a quick registration at the gate and a huge packed lunch before the start of day one. Leonard was my guide. He was warm and friendly, always trying to teach me about the different plants and animals along the way. He kept me moving forward, pole pole (meaning slowly slowly) I am not gonna lie climbing the mountain takes a lot of determination. The only reason I got to the top was because of my awesome team. Ensuring the camp site was always ready to go when I arrived to the next point. A hot beverage ready to be served. Edward the cook, even started making ginger tea when I was losing my appetite. There was always plenty of hot food for every meal. There is plenty of downtime as you leave early to avoid potential weather problems. In this time the gang was always fun and up for a game of cards. The day of the summit was my birthday, I did not make it known to the crew in case I did not make it up. But at the top they had a sign and sang happy birthday to me. Once down they made a cake and had a little birthday for me. I would definitely recommend taking the risk to climb Kilimanjaro if you have these guys. They will ensure you have fun and get up the mountain safely.”

“Great experience with great guides, porters, and chef.” “My wife and I did the 7-day Machame trek in late October with William (guide), Remi (asst. guide), and their crew. We were hit with quite a bit of nasty weather for most of the trek, but the guides and crew went above and beyond to make sure we were safe and comfortable. They would take our wet clothes into the kitchen tent in the evenings to try to and dry them, and some of the porters even wore our wet clothes in camp to try to dry them faster. The chef, Eduardo, prepared delicious meals for us. I was not able to eat much in the last few days due to nausea from the altitude, but what I could eat was very good and thoughtfully prepared. We had a “guide-in-training”, Aggrey, who was great. He would wake us up every morning with warm water for washing, and would bring us tea/coffee and all of the food during mealtimes. The guides, William and Remi, were very knowledgeable and helpful during the trek. The were more than willing to help out during difficult portions of the trek, and would always provide good advice on what to wear/pack each day before setting out. Overall, this was a fantastic experience on Mount Kilimanjaro. I would recommend Kilimanjaro Bound to anyone looking to hike Mount Kilimanjaro.”

“Trip Of A Life Time (6 Day Machame Route)” “I can’t express enough how happy I was with the service myself and my friend received from the minute we land at Kilimanjaro airport. We landed the day before we were set to hike and our bags got lost on transit so it was quite stressful. We spoke to Samson who we met us at Bristol cottages, which was a lovely hotel and he was very understanding and sorted a taxi to collect our bags at the airport for the next day as we had been informed they would be arrive a day later. So we had to push back the departure time to start the hike so we could collect and bags and sort our hiking gear. Samson gave us a very detail description of what was going to happen on the mountain day to day and gave us a printed copy of the itinerary. As for the hike itself it was outstanding, The service from all the porters and guides was out of this world. Our guides were Leonard and Zachariah and what a great pair of guys, Full of interesting facts and a good laugh. With them and the great support team of cooks and porters we had the greatest experience ever on the mountain. The whole team was full of smiles and laughs. All of them a Great bunch of guys couldn’t thank them enough for making my dream come true and making the summit. All the equipment was great and everyday the camps were all set up for us arriving, The food we got on the mountain was fantastic, They said we needed to bring snacks up the mountain but i was never hungry as we were well fed, We had 3 meals day with every meal being a 3 course set. We got washing water everyday and had plenty of drinking water. It was nice to be woken up every morning with a nice cup of coffee straight to my tent to start the day. Our guides had a saying on the mountain, “One team One dream, to reach the roof of Africa”. All I can say is thanks to everybody on the team who made my dream come true it was a great trip and couldn’t recommend this company enough.”

Samson gave a thorough pre-departure briefing at Bristol Cottages – and talked through any concerns we had, personally checking that our equipment was suitable for the tough climb to the summit. Throughout the trip we were looked after exceptionally well by our two guides, William and Remy, along with their team of porters. Samson was waiting to brief us about the hike and do a bag-check. Even though we had reached the hotel late from safari, he waited patiently for us in the lobby for over an hour. He explained the hike in detail and the precautions to take to avoid AMS. Next morning we got picked up from the hotel and drove to Rongai gate. The drive was comfortable and we picked up bottled water for ourselves. We were joined by other members of the crew including our guides King Seleman and Williams. The 7-days hike went smoothly and we had enough food to eat and the tents were in reasonable shape. We were even able to adjust the schedule to get a day of rest at Mawenzi Tarn hut. Me and my family were in good health and had no issues with AMS when we started the summit ascent because of the slow and steady progress we had made during the previous days. We all reached down to Marangu gate safely without any health issues. A special shout out to the team of porters, cook, and guides who made this a memorable experience for us. On return, our hotel rooms were ready for a hot shower and night’s rest. Our drive back from the hotel was uneventful and we had plenty of time to shop and eat lunch in Moshi before heading to the airport. “6 day, Machame route.” “This trip sure did exceed my expectations. Right from my arrival in Moshi prior to starting the trek, Samson – the coordinator was clear and precise in explaining the itinerary and what to expect. Our two main guides for the duration of the trek, William and King Seleman were brilliant. They have a wealth of knowledge about the mountain, its nature and wildlife. They were approachable and they sure did make the trek more comfortable through their guidance and ‘pole, pole’ technique. The cook and the team of porters were undoubtedly the unsung heroes during the whole trek. They worked so hard with setting up and packing away the campsites. If it weren’t for the porters, the climb would be a lot harder. All in all, my experience on the mountain was incredible. 7 Day Rongai “Excellent trip – we successfully reached Uhuru peak at 6.45am on 11th May 2018. My guides name was Leonard, who was very knowledgeable and experienced, and gave me some really good advice with regard to acclimatisation etc. Health & safety was also a priority, with daily monitoring of my heart rate and the oxygen levels in my blood. The food was also excellent throughout, with a good variety and very big portions! Overall an excellent service, very happy to recommend.”

During the trail up the lava tower I felt the effects of altitude sickness: (1) Headache (2) Nausea (3) Dizziness (4) lightheadedness (5) Weakness (6) fatigue (7) Difficulty sleeping (8) Loss of appetite Samson kept saying just walk slowly and takes deep breaths and drink water. He reassured me that it was normal to experience altitude sickness, and explained his strategy in walking up; but coming down to the campsite to help me to acclimate to the altitude. Eventually, we arrived at Stella point (SP) 5,756 meters where we revitalized. Finally, Samson said are you ready, and it was almost sunrise. As we walked up we were met by sunrise and the views all around was spectacular. Samson took my camera and took amazing pictures of me to capture this moment. We were able to get a picture together next to the sign that says, “Congratulation you are now at Uhuru Peak Tanzania 5,895 meters; Africa highest point…World’s highest free-standing mountain.” Also, once we got to Kilimanjaro National Park office I received a certificate stating, ”Ian Sterling has successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro the Highest in Africa to Uhuru Peak 5,895 m.” We reached the top at 6:20 am and it was clear with sunrise overlooking the clouds. Samson Lauwo an excellent guide helped me to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. His grandfather Yohani Kinyala Lauwo was one of the first to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. Samson and his staff have helped many people to summit to the top of this great Volcano. He was recommended to me by two friends that he helped to summit to the top of Kilimanjaro. They spoke very highly of Samson and his staff. These two friends are well traveled and are very knowledgeable about the best guides in the business. I was convinced and book my hiking expedition with Samson. When I spoke to Samson, he made me feel very comfortable and I felt very confident that he would get me to the top. He booked my accommodation and made sure I had transportation. He made sure that I knew where to go and what restaurant was safe. He provided the gear for the tour and made sure that I had everything I need before the climb. He explains the precautions about the climb. On the first day, he mentioned the key to reach the top was to walk slowly because of altitude sickness.
